Taxidermy Clouded Leopard by Rowland Ward
Exceptionally rare full-mount Clouded Leopard specimen by Rowland Ward of London c.1900-1910. Uniquely commissioned in a recumbent, snarling attitude with its tail curled and forelimbs outstretched. The mouth bears all teeth and original paintwork, inset with colourful glass eyes, whiskers, ears complete and claws present. The body of fur exhibits wonderful markings for which the species is renowned. It represents just one of less than a handful known to exist by Rowland Ward, perhaps the world’s leading taxidermist of the period. The specimen was previously owned by the same family for as long as can be traced.
