Taxidermy Leopard Skin by Van Ingen

SOLD

Superb colonial era hunting trophy of an Indian Leopard skin mounted by Van Ingen & Van Ingen of Mysore, world class taxidermists to royalty and the Indian nobility. Rare in this condition, the skin retains strong colouration and markings, all of the limbs and tail are complete with seven claws intact overall. The head is expertly modelled in an aggressive attitude with the classic and stylised ridged snarl and inset glass eyes. The mouth bears a complete set of teeth and remains in faultless condition with a painted gloss finish. The fur coverage across the head and neck is excellent, both of the ears are also undamaged. The skin is mounted to the original cotton lining and finished with a dark blue scalloped edge, both complete and in good order. The underside carries the Van Ingen paper label with care instructions and a printed factory serial number ‘20907’.
